cringe & commitment after the end of history

from Competition

Book/Magazine

built upon a sense that ‘killing the part of you that cringes’ might have something to do with living after the end of history, this essay inadvertently becomes a reflection on the 2010s. it charts ambivalence as an appropriate response to the ongoing afterlives of neoliberalism and works towards a consideration of cringe-embrace and its latent politics.

this essay was presented as a lecture at the newbridge project in newcastle in 2022. they provided financial support to develop the content into this zine, thank you to dan russell. thank you to grace denton for reading multiple drafts, to caitlin merrett king for helpful conversations, and to sunday’s for printing xxx
